People of different nationalities, religions and race participated in the International Yoga Festival 2017 to testify that Yoga is the uniting force of the entire world. This was the 29th edition of the Annual event which was held in Rishikesh during the first week of March. Here is a glimpse of the event which was organised with much aplomb by the Parmarth Niketan Ashram in Rishikesh.

On the 29th Annual International Yoga Festival, the day begins with a meditation session on the banks of the River Ganga.
Maharashtra Yoga Utsav 2017 will be held on 24th, 25th and 26th March.
The innumerable benefits of Yoga have been proven time and again by science. Today, Yoga is a force to reckon with and has gained immense popularity internationally and also in its birthplace, India. To spread the message of Yoga to the masses, the Kaivalyadhama Ashram is organising the Maharashtra Yoga Utsav 2017. The three day event will be held between the 24th -26th of March, in Mumbai and is supported by Central Council for Research in Yoga and Naturopathy (CCRYN) and the Ministry of AYUSH, Govt. of India. The Yoga capital of the world, Rishikesh is all set to host the International Yoga festival from the 1st – 7th March, 2017. The festival is organised by Parmarth Niketan ashram along with The Ministry of Ayush (Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homoeopathy), GMVN, and The Uttarakhand Tourism Development Board. Held annually, this year marks the 18th edition of the world renowned event.

There are many myths that surround the festival of Mahashivrathri, but one in particular which is often repeated and remembered has to be the story of Samudra Manthan, or the ‘Churning of the Ocean’. Infact, this myth still bears a close resemblance to the way it is currently celebrated and has its origin from the ancient book of the Puranas, which when translated means ‘olden times’. (more…)
